Snow on the porch...

I woke up this a.m. to 10 inches of new snow. I have not been using my camera much this winter because our backyard has been all ice and dog you- know -what. Leap Day, today, my yard looks like a cotton covered fairyland. I love it . Got my camera  out and shot the blue chair...

A Leap Year note. My grandfather Frank Aman was born on February 29,1910 (per correction). He only had a birthday every 4 years so when he was my old grandfather he had only had 16 birthdays. I remember as a kid thinking how cool this was.

The way we were...

Some times I think about us when we were kids. Those were the childhood days of magic. I believed in...
imagination, play, joy, love, possibility. My beloved siblings still inspire those feelings in my heart. I know now, of course, that there are lows to go with the joys of life. But life is sweet. Remember the birthday cakes (so sweet) Mom made for us? I still taste them whenever I cut-up a cake for one of my grands. Azalea is getting an Elmo cake next week. I tasted the sweet when Phyllis made me the Barbie cake for my 60th birthday. We are people of character (or just characters) with connections...children, in-laws, (out-laws-Ivan) grandchildren, relatives, friends.

We are the Aman Girls...

Book Club News! Yeah...great response to my wacky (yes, in my world forming a book club is wacky)(oh,and yes, I got the term wacky from Stef) idea. I'm sending you all a link to my blog so you can all comment after reading the chosen book on March 30th. Any comments, e-mails etc are welcome any time. Let me know any books you all are interested in reading. I'll have a book by the end of the week. Hannah, if you see this do not throw out the "fascinator" I wore at aman Christmas. Save it for me! Love to you all from my old, very cold front porch!

Winter beach...

Brrrr...I took a walk on this Lake Superior beach this morning. The lake is not frozen but chunks of ice are washed up on the shore. I felt like I was in the wilderness. Because of the berm no houses or people are visible for miles...

Blue chair...

This little blue rocker has seen better days...It spent a little time in the family room then the playroom on the porch. Now it sits in the backyard. I watched the Grands push eachother in it on the homemade ice rink.
I do love an old chair...

My baby with her baby...

My daughter and her baby girl. I just can not get enough of this little flower child. She spent two nights with Gran and Papa last week so her parents could get a few things done at home. It is deja vu all over again. She looks just like her Mom did when she was a little. I feel like I get a second chance to enjoy my sweet child. After tea parties and morning coffee (mostly milk) and playing Wizard of Oz dolls we drove her back home. As we pulled in her driveway up to her house she said with a look of surprise, "Baby is home!"
