Ouch, ouch, ouch on the porch...
'"Picking rasberries with my daughter M...attacked by stinging wasps. Several bites on my arm and my left hand. Ouch! The fresh berries are worth it. I think. The baby said, "Let me kiss it Granny. I will make it better."
And this is not all that happened this week on the porch. Last night, I sat on the porch watching four flower girls dance, sing, cartwheel and run on the front sidewalk. M remembered her childhood days on this porch playing frozen tag and sleeping out on the porch with her sisters.
Oh, and I woke up two days ago to sounds of pounding from down stairs. My Hubby pulled up our much maligned cream plush carpet. (puppy training gone bad) revealing 125 year old maple hardwood. So after pulling 10,000 staples, cleaning and staining the floor and picking large area rugs it looks pretty good in this old house. It is of course connected to my old front porch.

Back on the porch...
It is very quiet on my old porch today. The Texans left this morning...early.
The ten ran in packs for the two weeks they have been together.
From our 10 year old to our 2 year old these are happy kids. Play til you drop is the order of the day.
I miss them already. My life is crazy, busy and wonderful with my dear bunch of grandchildren.
I wanted to post the back view of the kids because it shows me always running a little behind!

Flower child's birthday adventure...
My eldest granddaughter had her 9th birthday on June 17th. Her choice for a party was to go horseback riding with her Granny...me. So we mounted up and rode at a place called Heritage Hills. The trails were narrow through picturesque forest land. This for me was an extreme sport. My horse was a retired dressage named Bart. He responded to my every command. I rode as a kid but it has been years. It all came back to me. My daughter was so surprised at how well I did. I still can't stop smiling. Thank you dear Iris for believing Granny can do anything...Oh, what a day! Thanks to Anna for the photos and Emmy for the moral support and M for the adventure!
A moment to remember on the porch...
I am sitting on my porch on my wicker lounger finishing The Night Circus (after a call from the librarian asking for the book's return). Breezy and sunny and so comfy. A moment to bottle and store on my life shelf. I enjoyed every well written word of this book. Erin Morgenstern, you are such a smart girl. You made me remember how I believed in magic, fairytales and hope in my youthful summers. A quote used in the book from The Tempest-- Prospero's words from Act IV scene I, hit me right in the heart.
The picture above is another moment I can still feel. My brothers and sisters and me(bottom row left) in front of our barn "pyramid"
